Wherever we gooooo..............

Also from the Appleton Post-Crescent -

ABBOTSFORD, WI -- Two Dorchester men were arrested for operating the same vehicle while intoxicated in the Abbotsford area.

Harvey Miller, 43, who has no legs, was steering the 1985 Chevrolet truck from the driver's seat while Edwin Marzinske, 55, operated the brake and gas pedals, according to a Colby/Abbotsford Police report.

Wherever we go... whatever we do.... we'll always go through it togeeeeether.......

Update: Since the link to the story no longer works, here's a summary. I still think it's a funny story....

Marshfield News-Herald

Two Dorchester men were arrested for operating the same vehicle while intoxicated in the Colby-Abbotsford area.

Harvey J. Miller, 43, who has no legs, was steering the 1985 Chevrolet truck from the driver’s seat while Edwin H. Marzinske, 55, operated the break and gas pedals, according to the police report.

They were headed northbound on Hiline Avenue in Abbotsford when police pulled them over at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.

Miller admitted he was too drunk to drive but argued he wasn’t operating the vehicle because he couldn’t push the pedals. Miller was issued a citation for a third drunk driving offense, while Marzinske was cited for a second. Both men were also cited for operating after revocation.

A third drunk man in the vehicle walked himself home after the incident.

The August 31st edition of the Appleton Post-Crescent reports that a Wisconsin woman has petitioned the court to change her last name to bin Laden.

Called at her home, Burke, when asked about the name change, said, "I don't have to explain that to a reporter. It is really none of your business. At this point, it is a private matter."

I've thought about it awhile, but can't seem to come up with any logical explanation as to why anyone would want to do this. Obviously the wheel is spinning, but the hamster is dead.

don't let your meat loaf

My apologies for that.... but I couldn't come up with anything creative. ANYway.... since we spent the last couple of days pigging out on meat loaf, I thought I would share a tip with you that will keep your meat from loafing (no, not viagra).

As I stated previously, I don't care for a lot of tomato-y things. I especially don't care for meat loaf with all of that tomato gunk that so many people seem to put in or on their meat loaf. So, we've been experimenting with different ingredients, and came up with this one that I'm sure you'll all really enjoy! (who said that?)

Take yer favorite meat loaf recipe (sans tomato gunk), and add just a tablespoon or so of either apple jelly or apple sauce per pound of ground meat. You can use beef or pork (a combo usually tastes best), use oatmeal or bread crumbs (not fresh bread, and 7-grain bread gives a good flavor), leave out any eggs that the recipe calls for, add anything else you like (onions, green peppers, mushrooms, capers, etc.).... and just make up your own original creation. This household usually doesn't work with a recipe when it comes to meatloaf, but the apple jelly/sauce has worked well with every made-up recipe we've tried so far. You can also throw on some bacon on the top of the loaf, a few minutes or so before it's finished baking, and that adds a really great flavor as well.

Try it, you'll like it. And let me know if you did. Any other meat loaf suggestions?
Okay, I like to cook. I like to eat, too. But usually don't get enough time for either. Cooking is like playing in the mud, but even when your creations turn out awful, they still taste better than mud pies. Yeah I know... mud pies used to be the bomb.... along with paste, play-doh, school cafeteria food (at least when you were really hungry).

I don't eat liver. I don't eat most seafood these days. I used to eat fish all the time. But when you move from a small town where fresh fish is plentiful and delicious - to a large city where the supermarket fish departments are all really smelly, you tend to lose your appetite for seafood.... at least I did.

Tomatoes? Depends. I don't especially care for tomato sauces or tomatoes in salads, unless they're really fresh and tomato-y. Hothouse tomatoes are pointless. I will eat bruschetta... yellow tomatoes, fried green tomatoes.... green tomato relish. I don't like tomatoes on anything.

I don't eat sushi either. Yuk. It's beyond me why people would eat the raw version of something that you can get very ill from (or die from) even when it's cooked. I love canned tuna though.... is that raw? Please say it isn't.

I guess this post needs some editing, but I'm tired of writing. So for now I'll just say that I set up this section for "random recipes" - good recipes that I've tried or at least have read about.... helpful cooking tips.... or maybe you have a really great recipe that you'd like to share with the world. Feel free to post it here....
Sorry...... couldn't resist. But I couldn't come up with anything more creative at the moment.

quilting

Yes, this house(hold) has pumped out several quilts in the past few years. Unfortunately, I lost most of the photos on my 'puter during "The Crash of 06". There are photos SOMEwhere of most of the quilts made.... the problem is finding them, and getting them put back onto the computer, and then on this site.

Since that time, not many quilts have been finished. Life has gotten in the way more times than I care to count. Isn't that always the way? So there aren't a lot of quilt photos to share at this time. But..... I'll definitely post pics from time to time, and probably ramble on about quilt stuff as well. One of these days I might also learn to back stuff up on the computer, so if/when the next crash happens, I'll be prepared.

There are a bazillion online quilt shops, sites, etc. My favorite online shop is Dakota Cabin Quilts.
Their fabric is a little more pricey than some sites (and a little less than others). But they have the nicest staff anywhere, and their service is outstanding! Their website is awesome as well. They have a large selection of the Hoffman 1895 batiks (my fav)... all kinds of other fabrics, books, patterns, etc. When you don't know exactly what you want, shoot them an email, and more than likely you'll get a prompt response with all kinds of ideas and fabric selections. They're probably tired of MY emails, but.... they've been incredibly helpful. Only one time were they out of a fabric I ordered, and they called right away to tell me so, and to let me know when they would expect the fabric in. They also send out one of the most interesting weekly newsletters of any quilt shop I've seen. Many stores just include their newest products and sale items in their newsletter. Dakota Cabin Quilts also includes a very interesting slice of life. I definitely recommend checking them out!

Introduction

Okay............. this is my umpteenth attempt at making a little home for myself in cyberspace. The first few minutes, hours - days even, go very well. I'm full of ambition. I spend a large amount of time with layout and set-up and fonts and colors and html codes and photos and very wordy initial posts, but I lose interest very quickly.

I'm not sure why I'm here. I have plenty in life to keep me busy. Most of those things I enjoy, although there are quite a few obligations that annoy the hell out of me, even though participation is mandatory. Still, television sucks these days, newspapers are depressing, satellite radio manages to slip that Rap crap into almost every station, chat rooms stink, online games are fun at times.... and I currently don't reside in an area that allows me to do everything I want to do - indoors or out - so I thought I'd give this another try.

It seems the best, most active blogs are those with some sort of theme. I couldn't decide on a theme, and "random roads" has always seemed to fit my lifestyle, so I went with it. Hopefully each entry here - if I manage to maintain this blog - will have some type of theme. Any suggestions?

Please feel free to comment on anything and everything. All suggestions will be considered, although all may not be appreciated. ;-)

Hopefully, this will turn out to be a place of interest to someone, somewhere. Now - where do I post my photo albums??? Anyone wanna order a pizza?
